I've never seen more Langes, or more rare Langes for sale, anywhere. New York fake watch lovers, rejoice. Our dear friends from that sleepy little town in Saxony called Glashütte have opened a boutique in New York City! No, not these guys, or these guys, but none other than A. Lange & Söhne. Yes, the first Lange boutique in New York city is officially open, and here you have an early look at what you just might find inside.
This new, 2,500+ square foot boutique located at 66th and Madison is one the lightest, and most airy of all Madison Avenue boutiques. It is the second Lange boutique in North America, after Palm Beach's Worth Avenue store, and actually the very first directly owned by A. Lange & Söhne. Lange grey wooden display cases and beige vitrines make up the extensive (and i mean extensive) display of replica watches on offer. But, the first thing you'll notice is a suspended, three-dimensional Lange escapement, and a five-minute clock, just like that which sits above the stage in the Semper Opera House in Dresden, the inspiration for all of Lange's outsized date windows.
The displays are broken up mostly by collection, and then by color. So you might see the entire 1815 collection in rose gold, and then in white gold.
Turn around, and you'll see some Lange 1's set in front of a scene depicting the Dresden opera house mentioned above.
But when I say this new NYC boutique has Lange 1's, i don't mean just a few. They have the original Lange 1's in rose, yellow, and platinum. They also have Grand Lange 1's in rose, yellow, and platinum, all on offer.
They also have the Lange 1 Daymatic (self-winding) and even the Grande Lange 1 Moonphase announced this year at SIHH, some Ladies pieces, and the absolutely monster of a Lange 1, the perpetual calendar tourbillon in platinum.
But the hits don't stop there. They also had in stock the very first pink gold 1815 perpetual calendar rattrapante to make it to the United States.
The new Lange boutique also has the complete Saxonia line available, including the incredible, sub-$20,000 rose-gold piece we reviewed here.
And they also have an incredible array of highly complicated pieces such as this Langematik Perpetual calendar, a Zeitwerk Striking Time in Rose gold (and normal Zeitwerk in white gold like this).
Did I mention they also have a brand new, never sold Cabaret Tourbillon in platinum? This fake watch was announced in 2008 as the world's first stop-seconds tourbillon wristwatch, and has since been discontinued. But you can buy it at the Lange store in NYC. And that is downright crazy.
They also have the extraordinarily beautiful Richard Lange Boutique Edition, which is in white gold with blued hands. This fake watch is just stunning, and as the name suggests, available only in Lange-owned boutiques.
What was also surprising to see is that they had an Arkade for sale, both 1815 chronographs (rose and white) in stock, and the gorgeous 1815 up/downs in all metals.
As I mentioned above, the space is light, and extremely welcoming. Natural light is abundant, thanks to a beautiful original skylight in the rear of the shop.
There are several places to sit inside the new store to make spending an extended period of time there as comfortable as possible. Actually, there is even an upstairs that will include a full-time watchmaker, and couches! It isn't complete yet, as the official opening date of this store is September 25th.
The A. Lange & Söhne boutique at 785 Madison Avenue is surely going to be amongst New York fake watch lovers' horoglogical highlights. The incredibly wide range of hard to get pieces brought in for the grand opening is truly unmatched, and to see them all in one place is extraordinary. Lange expects this new space to become the true home for its customers, and welcomes all lovers of the brand to come by for a coffee. Did I mention they will also have a few special-edition replica watches coming to the store closer to its grand opening date? They will.
